2024 Test Prep Writing Course

This 8-week young writers crash course will quickly equip your elementary and middle school children with the skills needed to understand the purpose of writing and how to communicate effectively.
Teaching parent educators these writing foundations also prepares their children for formal testing situations like the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC) and the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP).
The course defines and practices the three core, standards-based writing genres. In addition, the course offers students the tools needed to experience the best and most successful testing experience in the area of writing according to CCSS measures.
Welcome!
Starting in February 2024, simple and succinct instruction and practice may begin.
Week one allows families the time they need to review the materials and plan for success.
During weeks 2-7, weekly, self-paced, online lessons (with all necessary materials) are provided for enrolled participants.
Two weeks are devoted to teaching and practicing each writing style.
Finally, at the end of the program, children are invited to join a special student webinar where we will discuss how to reduce anxiety and test with a confident mindset.
While a schedule is offered, flexibility remains. This course and its materials may be used in a self-study, self-paced format.
RETURNING IN 2024! A special online space has been created where students may upload their essays and receive feedback from trained WOW editors.
